Fabulous Friday

Hello everyone. Happy weekend Party smile

There has been a lot of fabulous this week.

1. Yoga. This 21 Day Yoga Challenge has been wonderful to me. I’m totally loving it. I feel myself getting stronger and I feel so GREAT after the sessions. I’ve had to modify some things because of my extreme anti-flexible-ness, but I’ve gotten through it. How are my yoga buddies doing?? Leigha, Jessica, and Liz I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. My favorite day has been day 10, I love the core routine. I hope you all are keeping up your January goals!

Beautiful picture, Emily. Not. Someday I’ll get good at taking pictures I promise..

2. Mug Cakes. First, let me say that usually I’m terrible about recipes. I just bookmark/pin them and never actually MAKE them, even though I would really love to make them all!! However, I felt pretty ambitious the day that Miranda posted her Chocolate Mug Cake recipe, so I tried it.

Mug Cake Perfection!! I made it using the same recipe but using dark chocolate protein powder instead of plain. I don’t have Walden Farms caramel syrup so I settled for chocolate syrup. This is one DELICIOUS mug cake. In addition to being really moist and cake-y (and not eggy!), it’s gluten-free!

Note: I stirred it A LOT before I microwaved it. Also, my microwave needed 1:45, not 2 minutes.

3. Running. I ran Monday-Thursday this week, for at least 45 minutes each day. I also found a freshmen buddy to run with. She is super sweet and just a bit slower than me so we can easy pace it together. #backofthepackcrew.

4. 3 Finals down. Today I had Physics, AP Psych, and Band. Everything went pretty well! Tuesday & Wednesday are the hard days, because I have Pre-Calc honors and Spanish 3. I need a 90% on my Spanish final for an A in the class… So nervous Disappointed smile

5. Food. I’m beginning to let myself really enjoy food again. Especially things like oatmeal (used Healthy Hayls Egg White oats recipe. Topped with WF chocolate syrup).

Veggies + Best hummus ever

Fage 0% mixed with PB2.

6. Finally picking a date for my blood work. I’ve got all sorts of blood work and I’m finally getting it done on Monday morning. Getting blood drawn isn’t fabulous, but I’ve been having health issues and want some answers, so I need to get this done. The dietitian I saw who specializes in EDs told me she is worried about the Female Athlete Triad. I hope this isn’t TMI, but it’s been like 6 months since I’ve gotten a cycle, and I’m worried about low iron because my runs are slower and feel harder and then the whole orange skin thing.

Secondly, I’ve been experimenting with cutting out gluten. It appears that without gluten I have much less tummy troubles. However, I’m worried it’s all in my head?? I’ve been googling Celiac Disease and definitely freaking myself out. I am one of those people that diagnoses myself with EVERYTHING. It’s not good, I know. It actually happened when I got diabetes and now I think I get myself worked up over nothing. Anyway, I added gluten back in last night and had some tummy issues but we’ll see what the blood test says.

How are you doing on your January goals? Have you ever made a mug cake? Have you ever made egg white oats? Do you know anything about the Female Athlete Triad? Do you self-diagnose as terribly as I do?

I hope you all have a FABULOUS (long) weekend. I’ll be studying Winking smile

  1. Woooo yoga!!! Believe it or not, I have been doing my yoga, even though I haven’t been Instagramming/posting about it much. I’ve just been soooo busy that I just haven’t had time! And the core routines are my fave, too!! I have to modify like…all of them, haha.
DUDE IM OBSESSED WITH MUGCAKES!!!!!! I haven’t made Miranda’s because I don’t have the ingredients but it looks sososososo good.
Yay for running – I hope they’ve been feeling better! Hopefully you’ll get some answers after your blood work. Try not to freak yourself out about the gluten, though, as well as the low-iron thing. With my low energy at the end of the season, coach thought I might be iron-deficient or maybe even gluten intolerant, but it just turns out that I needed a break from the mileage. But everyone’s different, and you’re in my thoughts!! Good luck, chica! :))

    • I was so busy this week too!! High school is one crazy time. Mugcakes are the best invention ever. And thank you- it’s good to know that maybe I’m just not quite in shape and it’s all in my head. I guess we’ll find out Monday (:

  2. I am LOVING yoga too! The core one is my favorite!! Good job with the runs – except 45 minutes a day is kind of a lot.. are you sure it’s not an excuse for you know what? Just making sure ❤ My finals are next week. Ew!!

    • 100% honest, that’s just what my team has done. I haven’t ran on my own in weeks. We are building milage for track season… Next week! I took a rest day today. I can’t believe I’m falling in love with yoga!! I need to actually sign up for classes now (: Good luck next week!

  3. Unfortunately, yoga has not been happening 😦 Finals + laziness = no yoga. I’m restarting the challenge tomorrow!
I’m glad that you are running – and I was going to ask what Leigha asked, so I’m glad you are just doing what your team is 🙂
It’s not TMI with your cycle – I lost mine for a few months and I was really stressed. I’m so happy that you are enjoying food again!!! 😀

  4. I’m glad you’re doing better! It’s good you’re doing blood work now-I had it done for a similar issue in high school-they didn’t find anything but it’s good to be sure!

  5. YAY for finals being almost done!! Except I don’t know how you are alive after taking physics…I took it last year and sort of wanted to throw myself off the balcony every time I tried to understand it. 😉

Definitely not TMI about the cycles – it’s amazing that you are able to be so honest! I’m dealing with that right now, but longer, and have been too bit nervous to bring it up! Way to be girl 🙂

    • I’m not in honors physics, that’s how I’m alive!! I dropped to regular this year, which sucks, but it’s been an easy A which is nice, instead of my friends in honors who are getting Ds or failing.. 😦

I’m always the one in the group who brings up the awkward stuff. I guess I tend to be pretty open and honest! That’s a good AND a bad thing though, sometimes I worry I scare people away!

  6. Your mug cake looks so amazing. And hummus is ALWAYS great! I’m trying to do more yoga lately, and I love it! It feel SO good and it’s great for you! The fact that you’re surviving physics is crazy! I’m taking honors this year, but I may take AP next year. I’m honestly wondering if I’m handing my life over to the devil. Physics is seriously the WORST!

As for the TMI, we are basically one. Luckily, the girls in swimming/crossfit/basketball are super open, so I never feel awkward! You were just talking about a natural part of life, so if you scare people away, they’re scared of something that happens to everyone (or all girls in this case!) I personally love your openess and honesty! xx

  7. Good luck on your Spanish final!!!!!! I needed around that grade for Latin and didn’t have good luck with that, but I hope you do! That PB2 and yogurt looks awesome by the way. 🙂 And yes I do diagnose my self with everything too!!! I think I like worrying my self sometimes..haha.

    • Thank you- I need it!! I’m sorry you weren’t able to get it for Latin. It’s pretty cool that you can study latin in high school- my school doesn’t offer it. If you have PB2, you must try it in yogurt! And I know, right?? I guess we are just strange (:

  8. Congrats on doing the yoga challenge, I haven’t done yoga in what seems like forever, oops. I’m the exact same way with recipes so you’re already way ahead of me by making what looks like an extremely delicious mug cake. Good luck with your finals, I bet you’re going to do very well!
